    I spent over 300 mornings in the Oval Office briefing the president and his senior staff. I had the privilege to manage, edit and deliver the president’s Daily Brief a summary of the most timely and critical intelligence threats to the U.S. from 2010 to 2014.

    As a Deputy on the National Security Council, I spent over 1,000 hours in the White House Situation Room providing the intelligence assessments which informed critical U.S. national security policy decisions — including the raid that rendered justice for the victims of 9/11.

    Since I have been eligible to vote, I have never registered with a political party. I remain an independent with a history of voting for candidates I believe in — I focused on their policy and not their party. Before this election, I have never spoken out for or against a candidate for any office.

    But I can be silent no longer.

    In the summer of 1976, I was 14 years old and new to Colorado, my father took command of the Western Region’s National Guard. I enrolled in the brand-new Smoky Hill High School on what was then the far eastern boundary of Aurora. As a military brat, I was accustomed to moving around and not putting down roots — but as readers will know well, Colorado has a way of pulling on your heart and it became home. It remains so as my family spends as much time as possible in our Dillon residence.

    Upon graduating from Cornell University, I joined the intelligence community as an analyst during President Ronald Reagan’s increasing investments in defense — a buildup that culminated in the collapse of the Soviet Union by the end of the decade. In my nearly four decades of service, I had the privilege of serving under six presidents — four Republican and two Democrat. The constant across all of those administrations was the oath I took to “protect and defend” the Constitution against “all enemies — foreign and domestic.”

    I know what it takes to succeed at the highest levels of our government — intellectual curiosity, the strength of moral purpose and a commitment to selfless service. Broadly speaking, I can personally attest that Americans were very well served by those they elected to fill critical national security positions.

    There is one important exception to that statement — our current president.

    I have briefed him up close — and I have seen and felt the effect of his faults on our nation’s security. Out of respect for the confidential nature of Oval Office conversations, I will not provide details. Suffice to say that the person you see presiding over COVID-19 press conferences is the same one in the privacy of his office. He has little patience for facts or data that do not comport with his personal world view. Thus, the conversations are erratic and less than fully thoughtful.

    While it is natural for there to be tension between the intelligence community and senior policymakers, President Donald Trump’s decision to rely upon the word of dictators like Vladimir Putin is an unprecedented betrayal of his oath to the Constitution. Our current president bases his decisions on his instincts, and his instincts are based upon a personal value proposition — what’s in it for me?

    As a Commander in Chief, President Trump comes up tragically short. He fails to protect our soldiers when bounties are placed on their heads by his friend Vladimir. And not only does he not respect their service, but President Trump also belittles combat heroes who were taken as prisoners of war.

    As a nation, we were fortunate that a true crisis did not occur during his first three years in office.

    Then 2020 happened. This has been an unprecedented year for which many of us were not prepared. In moments of crisis, the American people demand — and deserve — a leader who will put the country first. Full stop. Because the reality and the science of COVID-19 conflicted with his personal views, President Trump knowingly downplayed the pandemic.

    This is not about the economy, taxes, health care or any other normal ballot considerations. This is about American lives unnecessarily lost. This is about businesses unnecessarily closed. This is about being guided by service to all Americans. This is about centering decisions on a higher morality. President Trump’s actions — and inaction — demonstrates that he is not concerned about any of this.

    And as damaging as his faulty leadership has been, four more years would be devastating.

    We must elect a thoughtful, moral, responsible, respectful leader on Nov. 3. Our current president is not that leader.

    Omdat hij zo hard gaat verliezen, is Donald Trump wanhopiger dan ooit om het idee te pushen dat er een soort van massale post-in stem samenzwering tegen hem is. Het punt is, Trump zou een meerderheid van het land moeten krijgen om deze onzin te geloven, en niemand buiten zijn te kleine basis lijkt er in te vallen.

    Daarom moet Trump een manier vinden om de serieuze en gerespecteerde mensen in de regering zijn leugen over mail-in stemmen te laten herhalen, voordat hij geen tijd meer heeft. Dus het is een groot probleem dat over het algemeen gerespecteerd FBI-directeur Christopher Wray net zei dit in een open hoorzitting: "We hebben niet gezien, historisch, enige vorm van gecoördineerde nationale kiezersfraude inspanning in een grote verkiezing, of het nu per post of anderszins."

    Het is niet alsof Trump's "Ik heb alleen verloren groot als gevolg van mail-in kiezersfraude" argument was om hem ergens te krijgen om te beginnen. Maar nu het hoofd van de FBI het stevig en publiekelijk aan Trump vasthoudt door te bevestigen dat er geen postfraude is, maakt het het trump nog moeilijker.

    Om u een idee te geven van hoe lelijk dit is voor Donald Trump, sommige rechtse propaganda sites zijn nu verwoed waarin wordt opgeroepen tot Wray te worden ontslagen. Natuurlijk zou Trump dat theoretisch kunnen doen. Maar als Trump dacht dat hij de kracht had om Wray af te vuren, had hij het een tijdje geleden gedaan. De realiteit is dat dit allemaal niet gaat zoals Trump dat wil.

    de grote lijn lijkt me duidelijk , ongeacht welke media het brengen ; Donald Trump voorziet massale fraude, en zijn inlichtingendiensten zeggen dat die fraude niet bestond - niet bestaat - en er geen reden is om te denken dat het zal bestaan.

    Verder dan dat kan ik het niet eens zijn met het Palmer Report. Ik denk niet dat Donald Trump handelt uit paniek. Ik denk dat hij het doet uit weloverwogen strategie. Zijn DOJ (justitie) mag immers pas ingrijpen bij het bestaan van een juridisch "redelijke verdenking". Zo te zien wordt die niet-bestaande redelijke verdenking nu stap voor stap gecreëerd. Ik verwacht meer van deze ontwikkelingen in de komende weken. Tot er genoeg aanleiding op tafel ligt voor AG William Barr om in te grijpen op alle mail-in ballots in heel het land. Uiterlijk op 3 november, voordat het tellen van de stemmen begint.

    Een duister scenario ? Misschien wel. De gevolgen zouden enorm zijn.

    Assistent-officier van justitie sloopt Bill Barr

    Procureur-generaal Bill Barr heeft de afgelopen dagen allerlei ineffectieve onzin aan de muur geslingerd in de hoop dat hij er iets van kon vasthouden – een teken dat hij niets levensvatbaars in de tank heeft. Nu zien we een concreter teken van hoe kwetsbaar Barr zou kunnen zijn, en het komt van binnen het ministerie van Justitie.

    James Herbert, de assistent-procureur van de VS voor Massachusetts, publiceerde gisteren een brief in de Boston Globe getiteld "Barr onteerd Justice Department." In zijn openbare brief, Herbert gaat zo ver om te stellen dat "De huidige procureur-generaal heeft gebracht schande op de afdeling die hij beweert te leiden." ABC News bevestigt nu dat Herbert deze brief echt heeft geschreven.

    Dit is een enorme deal, want, terwijl tal van voormalige ministerie van Justitie types hebben veroordeeld Bill Barr in de afgelopen paar jaar, James Herbert is een huidige Assistent-procureur. Hij legt verantwoording af aan het MINISTERIE. Barr is zijn baas, en kan hem theoretisch ontslaan. Maar Herbert lijkt zich geen zorgen te maken over dat vooruitzicht.

    Gezien hoe lachwekkend ineffectief Bill Barr is geweest toen hij probeerde zich te mengen in de Flynn, Stone, Cohen, Lev, Igor, en Bannon gevallen, en hoe jammerlijk Barr mislukt toen hij probeerde te bemoeien met de leiding in het kantoor van de Amerikaanse procureur in de SDNY, Herbert kan juist zijn in de veronderstelling dat Barr niet echt kan aanraken hem. Het wordt steeds duidelijker dat Barr niet in staat is om daadwerkelijk te trekken uit een van zijn corrupte regelingen, en dat ze in plaats daarvan alleen maar ontworpen om Donald Trump te laten geloven dat hij iets doet om hem te helpen.

    geeft deze opinie van haar :

    There's a reason that the WH has to resort to ad hominem attacks on the FBI Director, and it's because the FBI has a built-in safeguard that makes the info they give credible -- and therefore a threat to the administration. Here's why:

    2. This is most pertinent to Wray's comments about Russian interference, but it also applies to statements about voter fraud. The FBI is a member of the intelligence community (IC), but its focus is investigations, not intelligence collection.
    3. That means that literally every piece of information the FBI has in its possession is a result of obtaining it through the course of investigating either a violation of federal law, or a threat to national security.
    4. Further, everything that is gathered by the FBI in an investigation is documented, and is able to be cross referenced and searched (that's why the IG in the Crossfire Hurricane review literally sifted through hundreds of thousands of documents) -- but suffice it to say

    5. If there were hundreds of cases of voter fraud, they wouldn't be hard to find. But the attack on Wray goes deeper, and it's this: He has also commented on Russia's attempt to interfere in the 2020, which goes against the administration's narrative on that topic, as well
    6. Which means that they have active cases *now* indicating that this is occurring. Here is the problem for the WH, and especially for Barr. If they attempt to do what they have apparently tried to do with other agencies -- that is, suppress this info, or bury it
    7. They run into a bigger problem -- because trying to stop investigations without cause is called (anyone?) obstruction of justice. So in many ways, they have to tread carefully with Wray, and the agents handling these cases
    8. Here's where these two threads come together. Two days ago, the FBI warned that foreign actors would attempt to delegitimize the outcome of the election, particular following election day. Allegations of "voter fraud" are part of that narrative

    9. Wray's comments about foreign actors, primarily, Russia, combined with his debunking of any *actual* instances of voter fraud in the U.S., help neutralize this narrative. The White House doesn't like this.?? But really, they can't do much to stop the FBI from saying it (for now)

    10. So their only option is to make a sad claim that the *FBI* doesn't know what it is talking about (?? but Mark Meadows does??) because I think right now Wray's public comments may be the biggest impediment to their election strategy and their usual tactics won't work here
