The companies will work together to build consulting offerings for combining the robust back-office application functionality with Symbol's rugged handheld devices by connecting Symbol mobile devices to enterprise applications running on IBM mainframe and midrange systems. Various SEAGULL software products will be used to implement customer solutions, including Wireless-to-Host™, Transidiom™, and TigerRay™. SEAGULL has joined Symbol's Software Developer Partner Program and will work with Symbol's development team to offer Symbol customers customized pathways that quickly and easily integrate vital applications residing on mainframe and midrange systems with their own wireless infrastructures. This integration can range from incorporating simple but important line-item functions, such as updating inventory in realtime, to transforming entire supply chain management business processes into content that can be accessed and adapted through Symbol devices. Together, SEAGULL and Symbol offer a single solution for vertical markets such as warehouse and distribution, transportation, retail and government. SEAGULL is a trendsetter in making back-office functionality accessible through a variety of wireless devices, including handhelds and PDAs, and devices connected to wireless LANs. SEAGULL has several software products relevant to Symbol customers, including Transidiom, new technology for transforming host application business processes into callable XML, COM and Java objects for easy integration with front office applications; TigerRay, which provides a non-invasive direct link between host applications and existing Web infrastructure using HTML; and Wireless-to-Host, for providing realtime access to mission-critical business applications from wireless devices such as PDAs and mobile phones.
