Says he will argue the case that abuse of power and obstruction of congress are not "high crimes and misdemeanors" that deserve impeachment.

    Dershowitz says he has been coordinating with the president's legal team in crafting his argument. "The president asked me to present my independent constitutional arguments in my books and articles to the Senate," he said.

    Dit is grove minachting en beschimping van het Congress

    Beiden geen reden zijn om de President af te zetten.

    Tuurlijk Allan Dershowitz, de President mag misbruik van zijn macht maken en het Congress machteloos maken in een Democratie. Het is Dershowitz naar zijn hoofd gestegen.

    Trump wordt beschermd door een groep hielenlikkers, die er dubieuze praktijken op na houden.

    Er zal wel weer een vlieger opgelaten zijn om het Fox kijkerspubliek hoop te geven. De show must go on.

    News organizations and journalists' advocates are challenging restrictive new ground rules for reporters assigned to cover the Senate impeachment trial.

    Correspondents who submit to an official credentialing process are granted broad access throughout the Capitol complex and usually encounter few restrictions in talking with members of Congress or others.

    But now Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Stenger has imposed new requirements for the impeachment trial, negotiated in part with Republican leadership:

    Reporters are being confined to small cordoned-off sections in areas where unrestricted access was typically standard. They are being prevented from walking with senators to continue conversations — even when the senator involved is willingly participating.

    Reporters also now may not approach senators for interviews in the halls surrounding the Senate chamber.

    Taken together, the new rules effectively prevent members of the press from reaching many senators.

    Senators Swear To Render 'Impartial Justice' In Impeachment Trial
    The Capitol is one of the rare places in official Washington where journalists get direct access to newsmakers — in this case, elected officials and their staff members.

    Elsewhere, as in the White House or the State Department, for example, reporters' movements are controlled more closely, and access to principals can be severely limited.

    The Senate's new security measures are unusually strict, and more restrictive even than the security protocols generally put in place for the annual State of the Union address — which is attended by the president, many members of the Cabinet and Supreme Court.     Pompeo laat eindelijk iets van zich horen na 72 uur niets gezegd te hebben.

    Uit bewijsmateriaal van Lev Parnas, whatsapp gesprekken tussen hem en Robert Hyde, bleek dat US ambassadrice Marie Yovanovitch gevolgd werd en er over mogelijkheden werd gesproken haar uit te schakelen.
    Uiteindelijk is zij onder strenge beveiliging terug naar de US gereisd.

    Vragen te over aan Pompeo hoe het zat met de veiligheid van het ambassade personeel.

    “We do our best to make sure that no harm will come to anyone, whether that was what was going on in our embassy in Baghdad last week or the work that was going on in Kyiv up and through the spring of last year when Ambassador Yovanovitch was there, and in our embassy in Kyiv even today,” he said.

    The allegations, if true, are central to the impeachment inquiry into Trump, who faces a charge that he abused his presidential power by pressuring Ukraine to investigate Democratic rival Joe Biden, using military aid to the country as leverage.

    En Pompeo heeft als Minister van Buitenlandse Zaken, toendertijd, totaal geen informatie meegekregen, dat er een gevaarlijke situatie rond zijn staflid in Oekraine was.

    Hij zal slechts een uur zijn zegje doen.

    De GOP zou geen getuigen oproepen. Het heeft er nu de schijn van dat hij optreedt als getuige.

    Ze hebben nog tot Dinsdag de tijd om spectaculaire plannen de ether in te slingeren en zien hoe er op gereageerd wordt. De aandacht moet blijven gaan naar de Trump Live Reality Show en niet naar het impeachment trial inhoudelijk.

    Er werd gesproken over het uit de weg ruimen van toenmalig US ambassadrice in Oekraine, Marie Yovanovitch.

    Rob Hyde wilde opgaan voor de 2020 verkiezingen in het Huis van Afgevaardigden namens de GOP.
    Er is hem inmiddels gevraagd, door de GOP Connecticut chair, om zich niet verkiesbaar te stellen.

    Cameron Collins, who also pleaded guilty in the case, is due to be sentenced next Thursday.

    Stephen Zarsky, the father of Cameron’s fiancee, will be sentenced next Friday.

    Neither Lauren Zarsky nor her mother, Dorothy Zarsky, were prosecuted. The two women avoided losses totaling more than $42,000 in their own trading on the tip.

    Washington-based lobbyist Sam Patten pleaded guilty to illegally funneling foreign money into Trump's inaugural committee as well and was sentenced to three years of probation, a $5,000 fine and 500 hours of community service.
    As the president's personal lawyer, Giuliani at that time downplayed Patten's association with Trump, saying "Trump has no idea who these contributors are."

    New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft, a close personal friend of Trump's, a Mar-a-Lago member, and who gave $1 million to the inaugural committee, is currently fighting misdemeanor charges in Florida related to alleged solicitation of prostitution.
    Kraft has pleaded not guilty.

    George Nader, a Lebanese-American businessman and lobbyist with ties to the Trump world and a key witness in the Mueller investigation, recently pleaded guilty to charges related to child sex trafficking and child pornography possession.
    He was also charged last month in connection to an alleged scheme to funnel millions of illegal campaign contributions to political entities supporting Clinton during the 2016 election.

    California-based Imaaz Zuberi, who gave $900,000 to the Trump inaugural committee, was indicted last October for allegedly making illegal foreign straw donation, violating foreign lobbying laws and evading taxes.

    The allegations against Zuberi, don't allege wrongdoing by Trump or his campaign. Last week, federal prosecutors added obstruction of justice to Zuberi's indictment, accusing him of taking "numerous steps" to thwart the federal criminal investigations upon learning of the investigation.
    Zuberi has pleaded guilty.
    Zuberi was also a major donor for Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama.

    To Trump’s critics, though, the charges being brought against his advisers has been viewed as a symptom of something concerning.
    Watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington's policy director Jennifer Ahearn said she worries about the “tone from the top.”

    “Would he issue pardons to help these very people avoid the consequences of their actions?” she asked. “Would he interfere in Justice Department or other enforcement actions against them?
    These could be additional serious ethics problems on top of all the troubling conduct we've already seen."

    But supporters of the president say he has been the target of unprecedented scrutiny – a phenomenon epitomized by the Mueller probe.

    Alleen wat heeft dat voor nut in de ruimte.

    Het lijkt erop dat het Genie Donald John Trump zich hier zelf mee bemoeid heeft.

    Congreslid Devin Nunes is steeds ongemakkelijker geworden sinds Lev Parnas begon te praten. Woensdagavond gaf het congres van Californië, na maanden van ontkenning, toe dat hij telefonisch met de Oekraïner had gesproken. Op vrijdag House Intelligence Committee vrijgegeven een reeks van berichten tussen Parnas en top Nunes assistent, Derek Harvey.

    Talloze wetgevers hebben Nunes verwoest over zijn acties, waaronder mede-congreslid Ted Lieu in Californië. Toen een advocaat voor het Republikeinse congreslid Lieu een dreigende brief stuurde, deelde de Democraat vrolijk zijn antwoord op de kennisgeving.

    De brief aan Lieu werd verzonden door advocaat Stephen Biss, die zich in Charlottesville, Virginia bevindt. Het merkte op dat Nunes zijn reputatie wilde beschermen en een rechtszaak dreigde als Lieu het bleef besmeuren.

    Lieu reageerde op een woeste manier:
    “Ik heb je brief van 31 december 2019 ontvangen waarin je je klant vermeldt, congreslid Devin Nunes zal me aanklagen als ik, onder andere, geen openbare verontschuldigingen aan Devin Nunes uitdeel. Het is waar dat ik verklaarde dat congreslid Nunes samenwerkte met Lev Parnas en samenzweerde om onze eigen regering te ondermijnen. Zoals u weet, is de waarheid een verdediging. Dus lees de documenten en sms-berichten van Lev Parnas aan het Huis van Afgevaardigden en bekijk zijn interview over de Rachel Maddow-show, die werd uitgezonden op 15 januari 2020, die rechtstreeks betrekking heeft op Rep. Nunes. "“Ik verwelkom elke rechtszaak van uw klant en kijk ernaar uit om Congressman Nunes te ontdekken. Of je kunt je brief nemen en erin stoppen. '

    Speelt een hoogst verontwaardigde slachtoffer rol.
    Typisch GOP gedrag.
    Meedogenloos iedereen beschuldigt en wanneer zij ergens van verdacht worden direct de zielige slachtoffer spelen.
    Eerst Ted Lieu aanvallen door hem van smaad te beschuldigen.
    Ted Lieu maakt er gehakt van.
    Nu CNN aanvallen.

    Pure paniek van een kat in het nauw.
    Devin Nunes zit tot over zijn oren in het Quid pro Quo spelletje van Donald Trump met Oekraine.
    En daar gaat net de impeachment over.

    In November 2018 is Ron De Santis, republikein, gekozen tot Gouverneur van Florida.
    In Juli 2018 ging daar een fund raising aan vooraf.

    Op de poster :
