    Elon Musk stuurt Tesla naar circuit na recordtijd elektrische Porsche

    Elon Musk heeft aangekondigd een Tesla Model S naar de Nordschleife van de Nürburgring te sturen. Hij deed dit nadat bekend werd dat de elektrische Porsche Taycan een recordtijd had neergezet voor elektrische vierdeurs auto's.

    Kort na de officiële onthulling van de Porsche Taycan een paar dagen geleden reageerde Elon Musk eerst op Twitter dat hij het raar vond dat ze een versie van de elektrische Porsche Taycan de toevoeging ‘Turbo’ hadden meegegeven. Een paar uur later kondigde hij aan een Tesla Model S naar de Nürburgring te sturen. De link tussen de twee boodschappen lijkt duidelijk.

    Porsche gebruikt inderdaad de ‘Turbo’-badge om de snellere uitvoeringen aan te duiden, inclusief de 911, Macan, Cayenne en Panamera. Dit ondanks het feit dat bijna alle motoren van moderne Porsches standaard worden aangedreven door turbomotoren. Musk is niet de enige die dit vreemd vindt, aangezien er in elektrische auto's geen enkele turbocompressor te vinden is.

    Moeilijk
    In de tweet die daarop volgde lijkt het er dus op dat de topman van Tesla de handschoen oppakt door een Model S naar de Nordschleife te sturen om te kijken of dit model de Taycan van de troon kan stoten. De Model S kan het echter nog wel eens moeilijk krijgen als Musk woord houdt, want de 761 pk sterke Taycan is speciaal gemaakt voor sportieve prestaties en had slechts 7 minuten en 42 seconden nodig om een ronde over het circuit af te leggen.

    Bijkomend probleem is dat de Tesla Model S naar verluidt de neiging heeft om oververhit te raken en in een gereduceerde vermogensmodus te schieten wanneer deze op een circuit aan de tand wordt gevoeld. Veel autoliefhebbers kijken uit naar een mogelijke recordrun van de Model S, maar het kan ook weer een grote bluf-actie zijn van de onvoorspelbare Amerikaan. Volgende week weten we het.

    Laatst getafeld met een bevriend echtpaar uit West Noord Brabant.

    Hij wilde graag vliegen en ons bezoeken aan de Costa Blanca.

    Zij was daar principieel op tegen vanwege verderfelijke milieuvervuiling, maar wilde ons met haar hybride auto wel bezoeken. Ik heb nog tevergeefs geprobeerd duidelijk te maken dat een hybriede auto met zowel een benzinemotor als een batterijbak zo ongeveer het meest milieuverontreinigend is als je kunt bedenken en je ermee bovendien kinderarbeid bevordert.

    Haar echtgenoot was minder streng in te leer en wilde wel zo'n vlucht voor een paar tientjes maken maar was kansloos. De principes van mevrouw gingen voorop.

    Voorzichtig bracht ik daartegen in dat een hybriede auto behoorlijk milieuonvriendelijk is wat ook geldt voor hun airconditioner en daaarom wel een een keer mochten zondigen.

    Maar helaas een huwelijk waarin de man niets te vertellen heeft en een Groen Links vrouw de scepter zwaait.

    Lijkt me een ramp, maar goed gelukkig heb ik het wat dat betreft goed getroffen met een kippetje dat een generatie jonger is en geen last heeft van dat soort oude wijven gewetensnood.

    De recycling: ik krijg geen antwoorden, 900 kg chemisch afval per Tesla, laat aub iemand mij uitleggen hoe dit in zijn werk gaat...

    Definitief: dit is de elektrische Volkswagen ID.3 van alle kanten

    Volkswagen heeft de productieversie van de ID.3 onthuld. De volledig elektrische auto, die ongeveer de grootte heeft van een Golf, wordt midden 2020 leverbaar in Nederland. Vandaag zijn alle definitieve details bekendgemaakt.

    Eerder wist deze site al veel informatie over de nieuwe Volkswagen ID.3 te melden, maar het was tot vandaag nog onbekend hoe het model er in zijn productieversie uit zou zien. De globale vorm was al geen geheim meer, maar nu is duidelijk dat de ID.3 altijd een zwart dak krijgt én een zwart gekleurde, met glas beklede achterklep van lichte kunststof. Opvallend is het ‘stippenpatroon’ op de achterste dakstijlen, dat terugkomt in het onderste deel van de voorbumper.

    Bovendien is definitief duidelijk dat de auto het vernieuwde VW-logo draagt: het bekende verchroomde embleem maakt plaats voor een strakker vormgegeven exemplaar. Volkswagen zal het naar verluidt in verschillende kleuren op de markt brengen, op de elektrische ID.3 is het embleem wit van kleur op een glimmende zwarte achtergrond. Opvallend zijn ook de grote wielen, die met hun dichte design gunstig zijn voor de stroomlijn van de auto.

    Met een lengte van 4.26 meter is de ID.3 ongeveer even groot, terwijl Volkswagen belooft dat de auto van binnen vergelijkbaar is met de grotere Passat. Dankzij het laag geplaatste accupakket heeft het interieur een vlakke bodem; een traditionele middentunnel ontbreekt. Wie dat wil kan een trekhaak laten monteren; deze heeft een maximum laadvermogen van 75 kilo en is dus vooral bedoeld om bijvoorbeeld fietsen te vervoeren.

    Drie accupakketten
    Volkswagen levert de ID.3 naar keuze met drie verschillende accupakketten. De ‘lichtste’ versie met 45 kilowattuur komt volgens de WLTP-meetmethode 330 kilometer ver op één lading, terwijl VW voor deze variant een maximale laadcapaciteit van 50 kilowatt (gelijkstroom) opgeeft. Wie wil kunnen laden met 100 kilowatt, moet daarvoor bijbetalen.

    De sterkste versie met 77 kilowattuur in zijn buik heeft opvallend genoeg de mogelijkheid om met 125 kilowatt te ‘tanken’, terwijl de capaciteit van de boordlader stijgt van 7,2 naar 11 kilowatt. Deze variant komt volgens VW zo’n 550 kilometer ver per laadbeurt. Bij 100 kW duurt het zo’n 30 minuten om 290 kilometer extra actieradius toe te voegen.

    In Nederland verschijnt de ID.3 eerst als ‘1ST edition’ op de markt. Deze extra luxe aangeklede introductieversie is gebaseerd op de middelste accugrootte (58 kWh, maximaal 420 kilometer) en beschikt onder meer over een glazen panoramadak, spraakbediening en speciale lichtmetalen wielen. Volgens importeur Pon gaat deze versie in Nederland minder dan 40.000 euro kosten, terwijl de vanaf-prijzen van de andere versies later bekend worden gemaakt. In Duitsland kost de voordeligste ID.3 minder dan 30.000 euro.

    In Nederland geldt op elke ID.3 slechts twee jaar garantie, al geldt op de aandrijflijn en elektrische componenten een termijn van acht jaar of 160.000 kilometer. De eerste zes jaar is het onderhoud in Nederland gratis. Inmiddels staan enkele duizenden Nederlanders al in de wachtrij voor een ID.3. De importeur probeert meer exemplaren naar Nederland te krijgen, maar vooralsnog is de eerste lading uitverkocht.

    Knipogende koplampen
    Volkswagen meldt dat de ID.3 knipogende koplampen krijgt, die de bestuurder begroeten zodra hij of zij naar de auto toe loopt. Ook aan de binnenkant communiceert de ID.3 door middel van led-verlichting: onder de voorruit zit een lichtstrip waarmee de auto aanwijzingen kan geven over dreigend gevaar, aanwijzingen voor de navigatie of informatie over de laadstatus van de accu’s.

    De ID.3 geldt als een zeer belangrijke auto voor Volkswagen. Het door dieselschandalen geplaagde concern wil met dit model zogezegd ‘een nieuwe start maken’. De internationale marketingdirecteur noemt de ID.3 het derde belangrijke hoofdstuk in de geschiedenis van het merk, na de iconische Kever en de Golf. De toekomst zal uitwijzen of deze auto daadwerkelijk zo belangrijk zal worden.

    Byton M-Byte: waarom we Chinese automakers nu wel serieus moeten nemen

    Voor veel mensen is Tesla hét voorbeeld van een vooruitstrevende automaker. Maar ook in Silicon Valley kijken ze nieuwsgierig naar China, waar fabrikanten misschien nog wel grotere stappen maken. Merken zoals Byton, dat zojuist de elektrische SUV M-Byte heeft gepresenteerd, staan met serieuze plannen klaar om de markt te veroveren.

    Byton is in Hongkong opgericht door ex-medewerkers van onder meer BMW, met flinke steun van de Chinese overheid. Het doel van de fabrikant is om niet alleen in China groot te worden, maar ook Amerika en Europa te veroveren. Dat wil het merk voor elkaar krijgen door haar modellen vol te stoppen met moderne technologie. In de eigen woorden maakt Byton namelijk geen auto’s, maar ‘rijdende smart devices’.

    Wie in de productieklare versie van de M-Byte stapt, krijgt inderdaad het gevoel in een grote smartphone te zitten. Op het dashboard prijkt een heel riant scherm, dat met een doorsnee van 48 inch bijna over de hele breedte van de auto zit. Volgens z’n makers is het gebogen scherm zelfs het grootste van alle productie-auto’s ter wereld. Verder zit er een scherm óp het stuurwiel (boven de airbag) waarmee de bestuurder diverse functies kan bedienen en alsof dat nog niet genoeg is, prijkt er tussen de voorstoelen nóg een touch screen voor de voorste passagier.

    ‘Waardevolle momenten’
    Byton schermt door deze technologie met de belofte dat de M-Byte bovengemiddeld eenvoudig te bedienen is. Dat kan onder meer met aanrakingen, gebaren en stemcommando’s. Die ontwikkeling zien we ook al bij andere fabrikanten maar Byton claimt dat de M-Byte verder gaat. Zo’n uitgekiende ‘user interface’, ofwel de manier waarop je de functies in de auto aanstuurt, wordt volgens het merk steeds belangrijker omdat de tijd van automobilisten tegenwoordig alsmaar schaarser wordt. ,,Omdat onze klanten niet hoeven na te denken over het bedienen van de auto, houden ze meer tijd over voor de zaken die écht tellen in het leven.’’

    Om te zorgen dat alle passagiers het dashboard (waarop uiteindelijk ook films getoond kunnen worden) kunnen zien, kunnen de voorste stoelen een stukje naar binnen schuiven. Standaard biedt de M-Byte plek aan vijf inzittenden, een luxere opstelling voor vier personen wordt ook leverbaar.

    Naar eigen zeggen speelt Byton met de M-Byte in op ontwikkelingen van de toekomst. Zo houdt het ontwerp van de neus rekening met een toekomst waarin auto’s volledig zelfstandig kunnen rijden. Als het eenmaal zo ver is, kan de M-Byte via ‘Smart Surface’ boodschappen tonen op zijn voorkant waarmee hij met andere verkeersdeelnemers communiceert. Verder is de SUV volledig ‘connected’; onder meer is het mogelijk om de auto via een smartphone-app te delen met vrienden of kennissen.

    Innovatiekracht
    Tegenwoordig heeft het merk Byton z’n hoofdkantoor in het Chinese Nanjing, een technologisch ontwikkelingscentrum in Silicon Valley en een ontwerpstudio in het Duitse München. Ondanks die wereldwijde spreiding laat de stormachtige opkomst van deze autofabrikant vooral zien hoe hard de ontwikkelingen gaan op de Chinese automarkt. Amper twee jaar geleden had nog bijna niemand gehoord van het merk, en nu staat de productie van de eerste elektrische Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) op het punt van beginnen. Zo’n innovatiekracht en ontwikkelingstempo is zelfs voor Chinese begrippen indrukwekkend.

    Wel moeten we dat tempo met een korreltje zout nemen. In China krijgen de eerste klanten hun M-Byte weliswaar al in 2020 afgeleverd, kopers in de Verenigde Staten en Europa kunnen volgend jaar hooguit reserveren maar moeten geduld hebben tot begin 2021. Wat dat allemaal moet gaan kosten? Op dit moment spreekt Byton over een Europese vanafprijs van 45.000 euro (exclusief belastingen).

    Kortom: of het merk zijn beloftes kan waarmaken is nog afwachten. Maar de huidige stand van zaken rondom Byton is veelbelovend. Meer dan andere Chinese fabrikanten die recent modellen hebben gepresenteerd, zoals Qoros dat zijn activiteiten in Europa eerder al staakte, lijkt deze nieuwe autobouwer zijn zaakjes wél goed op orde te hebben.

    Volkswagen EV Crossover for US Will Be Called ID4

    Volkswagen Group will debut the first of at least three battery-electric vehicles for the US next spring: a compact crossover with a new name and a more traditional shape than the ID Crozz concept on which it's based. The new crossover will be called the ID4, said a person familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified because the information has not yet been made public. A heavily camouflaged version is on display at this month's Frankfurt auto show, though it is obscured behind a fogged glass box.

    But the ID4's shape, which is distinguishable, appears to be more of a traditional three-box design with a largely vertical hatchback, rather than the long, arched roofline of the ID Crozz concept.

    The two-row ID4 follows the launch of the German brand's Golf-sized subcompact EV, the ID3, which was revealed in its production-ready state at the Frankfurt show. The smaller ID3 will go into production this year and will go on sale in Europe early next year at a base price below 30,000 euros (USD 33,000) in Germany, Volkswagen executives said here. It will not be sold in the United States.

    Honda Steps Towards Electrification Of European Business

    Honda made several announcements at 2019 Frankfurt motor show, giving more detail than ever before on its Electric Vision strategy for Europe. Honda’s Electric Vision strategy commits the company to electrify 100% of its European automobile sales by 2025. The first step in this plan was the launch of CR-V Hybrid, followed by the unveil of the Honda e Prototype at Geneva motor show earlier this year. Following a summer of appearances throughout the region, Honda unveiled the final mass production Honda e for the first time at Frankfurt.

    Mr Katsushi Inoue Chief Operating Officer and President, Honda Motor Europe, said that “Today, we take the next step towards our Electric Vision with the world premiere of the Honda e…A unique electric vehicle that only Honda could develop – a vehicle with outstanding dynamic performance and new levels of connectivity.”

    While Honda e made its first public appearance, Honda Motor Europe Senior Vice President, Mr Tom Gardner took the opportunity to confirm details of the brand’s next key launch, “In 2020, Honda will launch the next generation Jazz and today, we can confirm that this model will be introduced into Europe with hybrid technology as the sole powertrain option.”.

    BMW Thailand is Plugging in Electric Future

    BMW Group Thailand is marking another historic milestone with the inauguration of a local high-voltage battery production plant in partnership with the DRAXLMAIER Group, one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers and a partner of BMW Group since 1966. BMW Group Thailand launched the local assembly lines in July 2019 at the DRÄXLMAIER Group plant in WHA Chonburi Industrial Estate 2. The high-voltage battery assembly plant is assembling both battery modules and the battery itself.

    Mr Uwe Quaas MD of BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand said that “One of the pillars of BMW Group’s global strategy is electrification, and BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand is underlining its commitment to this mission by taking another big step forward in our electro-mobility strategy.     Ford Reveals Electrified Vehicle Line Up

    Ford demonstrated its commitment to an electrified future for customers at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany. The company revealed its most comprehensive line-up of electrified vehicles, which will help drive sales anticipated to surpass conventional petrol and diesel-models by the end of 2022 in Europe. Earlier this year, Ford announced that every new Ford passenger vehicle nameplate will include an electrified option either a mild-hybrid, full-hybrid, plug-in hybrid or all-electric delivering one of the most comprehensive line-ups of electrified options for European customers. The company is launching 17 electrified vehicles in Europe by 2024, including eight in 2019.

    Ford expects electrified powertrains to account for more than half of the company’s passenger vehicle sales by the end of 2022, creating a tipping point for Ford’s electrified vehicle sales versus conventional petrol and diesel sales. By this time, the company also expects to have sold 1 million electrified passenger vehicles.

    Mr Stuart Rowley, president, Ford of Europe said that “With electrification fast becoming the mainstream, we are substantially increasing the number of electrified models and powertrain options for our customers to choose from to suit their needs By making it easier than ever to seamlessly shift into an electrified vehicle, we expect the majority of our passenger vehicle sales to be electrified by the end of 2022.”

    BMW Group Aims 1 million Electrified Vehicles on Roads by 2021

    The BMW Group is focusing on the next electromobility milestone. Mr Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt said that by the end of 2021, we aim to have a total of one million electrified vehicles on the roads. We are already right at the forefront of electromobility. No manufacturer has delivered more electrified cars to customers in Germany so far this year than the BMW Group. In Norway, three out of every four new BMW Group vehicles sold have an electrified drive train.”

    Looking ahead to the next decade, Mr Zipse expects electromobility to develop at different rates around the world due to the differences in infrastructure, customer driving profiles and political frameworks. According to BMW Group forecasts, customer demand should ensure that over 50 percent of new vehicle registrations in China’s premium segment will be pure battery-electric vehicles in 2030. The figure for Europe will be only about half that number. The US, the world’s second largest vehicle market, will be at about the same level as Europe.

    He added that “The BMW Group is a global company. We will be able to offer our customers all relevant drive technologies: our conventional engines with benchmark efficiency, battery-electric drive trains, plug-in hybrids and, in the future, hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles. This puts us in a very strong strategic position to tackle the challenges of future mobility and climate change.”

    Bosch Wins Electromobility Orders Amounting to EUR 13 billion

    Bosch is driving in the fast lane. Bosch has won electromobility orders worth roughly 13 billion euros, including production projects for electrical powertrains for passenger cars and light trucks. Thanks to these successful orders and its innovative strength, Bosch is holding its own in the currently difficult environment. The Mobility Solutions business sector is again developing better than global automotive production in 2019. Despite the market’s current significant downward trend, the sector’s sales from operations will come in at just under the previous year’s level.

    Dr Volkmar Denner, chairman of the Bosch board of management said that “The transformation of mobility entails challenges, but also opportunities. We want to grasp them.” Technologically, Bosch is approaching the mobility of the future with an open mind. It is both further refining conventional powertrains and fast-tracking electrification.     Volkswagen Rolls Out Wallbox

    Volkswagen wants to make e-mobility attractive and affordable for as many people as possible. The brand is therefore rolling out a range of wallboxes to coincide with the start of the new ID.3: Going forward, customers will be able to charge their electric vehicles quickly and conveniently at home thanks to the ID. Charger. It offers a charging capacity of up to 11 kW and charges almost five times faster than a normal domestic power socket.     The basic version priced at EUR 399 offers a high-quality and attractively-priced charging solution. The simple operation, fixed Type 2 cable and a charging capacity of up to 11 kW make home charging very convenient. The modern design fits perfectly with the new ID.3. In addition, the compact and robust wallbox also features integrated DC fault current protection for maximum safety along with simple, cost-efficient installation.

    Jolywood to Power Full-electric Heavy Truck with Solar Energy Storage System

    China's leading PV modules manufacturer, Jolywood (Suzhou) Sunwatt Co unveiled its solar energy storage system with the launch of the full electric heavy truck manufactured by Breton. Fueling the emerging electric trucks sector, Jolywood has driven substantial growth in the Internet of Energy sector, making renewable energy more accessible.     ZF EVplus Delivers More Current to the Plug in Hybrid

    ZF is demonstrating that plug-in hybrids can be considered as true electric vehicles: Solely on electrical power, the ZF EVplus concept vehicle runs more than 100 kilometers under real-life conditions. This is a sufficient range for most drivers to cover their commuting distances and daily drives on just one battery charge. This makes electromobility possible in day-to-day use for a broad group of customers, with just a family car. For the more occasional long trips, on vacation or a weekend excursion, the engine comes into play. ZF is unveiling its EVplus concept at IAA 2019.

    In Germany, more than 88% of vocational commuters cover daily distances of less than 100 kilometers in their cars. A PHEV can cover these distances entirely in electric mode on just a single battery charge. ZF is proving that with its EVplus concept vehicle: Its purely electrical range of more than 100 kilometers covers the daily need for mobility of the vast proportion of commuters and families almost completely, and entirely on electric power, and without having to recharge the vehicle en route to accomplish this.

    Mr Stephan von Schuckmann, Head of ZF’s Car Powertrain Technology division said that “For us, EVplus marks a paradigm change with plug-in hybrids. Thanks to EVplus, the next generation of plug-in hybrids are electric vehicles suitable for daily use.“

    Kabinet wil laadpalen langs Europese routes

    DEN HAAG (AFN) - Het kabinet wil dat er langs de belangrijkste Europese wegen tal van laadpalen worden geplaatst voor elektrische auto's. Staatssecretaris Stientje van Veldhoven (Infrastructuur) gaat daarvoor pleiten in Brussel.

    Het gaat in eerste instantie om de belangrijkste routes door Europa, zoals de Route du Soleil, de Alpenroute en tal van belangrijke routes door Duitsland.

    "Wat ik wil is dat mensen die overwegen een elektrische auto te kopen, voor die keuze in ieder geval niet meer afhankelijk zijn van de vraag of ze er ook mee op vakantie kunnen", zegt Van Veldhoven. "Die infrastructuur moet gewoon geregeld worden."

    De Europese autobrancheorganisatie ACEA trok recent aan de bel omdat het elektrisch rijden in de Europese Unie maar mondjesmaat van de grond komt. De klimaatdoelen zouden daardoor zelfs in gevaar komen.
