@zandeman:

Heden's Persbericht van EMGS.
Electromagnetic Geoservices ASA is contemplating the issuance of new
unsecured bonds in the Norwegian bond market with maturity in May 2014. The
contemplated bond issue will have a minimum issue amount of NOK 200
million.

Net proceeds from the contemplated bond issue will be used to refinance
existing debt and for general corporate purposes.

Arctic Securities and First Securities have been retained as arrangers of
the contemplated bond issue.

Zoals te verwachten is de koers gezakt en wel met 4% tot 12 NOK. Eigenlijk
een raar pb: ze overwegen obligaties uit te geven... Normaal gesproken
kondigt men aan dit te hebben gedaan.
Rare jongens die Noren.

EMGS successfully completes bond issue

Electromagnetic Geoservices ASA has successfully completed issuance of a
new unsecured bond with maturity in May 2014. The borrowing amount is NOK
250 million, and the bond has a coupon of NIBOR + 7.00%. Settlement date for
the bond is expected to be 26 May 2011. An application will be made for the
bond to be listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange.

Net proceeds from the contemplated bond issue will be used to refinance
existing debt and for general corporate purposes.

Arctic Securities and First Securities acted as arrangers of the bond
issue.

Groet.

EMGS buoyed by Havis find
Electromagnetic survey specialist EMGS has seen its share price soar after Statoil revealed use of the company’s data had been key to making the Havis discovery in the Barents Sea.

Steve Marshall and news reports 10 January 2012 15:39 GMT

The accolade represents an important vindication of the Norwegian contractor’s relatively new survey technique that uses electromagnetic (EM) signals to determine hydrocarbon resistivity in reservoirs below the seabed, making it easier to determine drilling targets.

Its credibility had earlier been dented after Norwegian explorer Rocksource , which had adopted the technology and claimed it had “game-changing potential”, reported another dry well at the Heilo prospect in the Barents and said it would review its use of EM data.

However, Statoil is now saying it has “cracked the code” for exploration in the Barents after the Havis probe in its operated Production Licence 532 came up trumps with a find of between 200 million and 300 million barrels of oil.

Head of research and development Karl Johnny Hersvik said the use of EM data, in addition to traditional seismic readings, had “enhanced our geological understanding” of the Havis reservoir, adding that “it is possible that we will make more discoveries in this licence”.

The Havis find was made in an area covered by EMGS’ multi-client data library and the Oslo-listed company’s shares rose about 10% on news of the discovery.

EMGS’ chief financial officer Svein Knudsen told Norwegian newswire TDN Finans that the discovery would “increase interest for our data” and means there is a greater likelihood of the contractor carrying out a new multi-client survey in the Barents this year.

Hersvik said the find is a good example of Statoil’s newly stated technology goal to deliver exploration results through better seismic imaging and interpretation.

He said gaining an improved reservoir understanding through the use of various techniques such as EM would also contribute to increased recovery from existing fields.

EMGS turns red ink tide
Norwegian electromagnetic survey player EMGS earned record net income in the fourth quarter, reversing a loss from a year ago, as high-profile contracts and a Barents Sea find have raised industry recognition of its relatively new technology.

Steve Marshall 09 February 2012 09:06 GMT

The company earned a net profit of $12.3 million, compared with a loss of $28.4 million in the same period of 2010, as revenue for the quarter more than doubled to $57.8 million, from $27.2 million a year earlier.

It was a similar story for the full-year result as a hefty net loss of $55.2 million in 2010 was turned around into a gain of $10.2 million on the back of revenue that was up 129% at $172.4 million.

EBITDA for the quarter was at a record $16.7 million, versus a negative $2.4 million a year earlier, and at $41.8 million for the full year, compared with $2.4 million in 2010.

The company said the revenue boost was related to an increase in its fleet of vessels and improved productivity, with vessel utilization for the quarter at 84%.

Contract sales generated $55.2 million during the fourth quarter and multi-client work $2.6 million.

EMGS ended 2011 with positive cash flow from operating activities of $22.5 million, versus a negative figure of $20.4 million a year earlier.

The company notched up important contract wins last year with state-owned companies Petrobras of Brazil and Mexico’s Pemex that have strengthened the credibility of its electromagnetic (EM) survey technology.

It has been given a further boost by Statoil’s recent Havis find in the Barents Sea, which adopted the technology to more accurately define the reservoir’s prospectivity, helping it to crack the geological code in the frontier play.

EMGS is also hoping that a collaborative pact struck with oilfield services giant Schlumberger, following settlement of a European patents dispute, “will accelerate industry adoption of EM technology over the next few years”, according to its results statement.

Schlumberger will be using EM technology to gain a competitive edge for its seismic subsidiary WesternGeco.

“EMGS made substantial progress in 2011 and established a solid strategic platform to further develop the EM market,” the company stated.

The company intends to deploy four vessels in the coming year, focusing its efforts on the North Sea and Barents Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, West Africa and South-East Asia.

EMGS announced recently that it had secured pre-funding for a multi-client 3D EM campaign in the Barents Sea, ahead of Norway’s 22nd licensing round, that will start in March using the vessel Atlantic Guardian.

It earlier gained pre-funding from ExxonMobil to carry out a multi-client magnetotelluric survey covering about 3000 square kilometres in the More basin of the Norwegian Sea that was completed last month by the EM Express.

The vessel is one of two units gained by EMGS in its $15.8 million all-stock acquisition of peer rival OHM last year.

The other, EM Leader, has been modified and is now being mobilized to carry out a six-week 3D EM survey for Shell off Brunei due to start early this month, as the company sees increased demand in the Asia market.

Norwegian electromagnetic survey specialist EMGS has signed a $39 million contract extension with Pemex for work in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Mexican state oil company will continue to deploy EMGS survey vessel BOA Thalassa for ongoing acquisition of 3D electromagnetic (EM) data, aimed at improving Pemex’s reserves replacement ratio, under the renewed deal.

“This contract extension is an endorsement of our technology and the value that EM delivers in hydrocarbon exploration,” said EMGS chief executive Roar Bekker.
