Volkswagen inks Xinjiang deal

China Daily reported that auto giant Volkswagen sealed a deal to build a new factory in China where it plans to invest EUR 14 billion in five years as visiting Premier Mr Wen Jiabao and German Chancellor Angela Merkel attended the signing ceremony at the corporation headquarters.

The ceremony in Wolfsburg, the last event on Mr Wen's agenda during his 24-hour stay in China largest European trade partner was largely symbolic. News of the plan had crossed continents for months. But observers say the gesture came at a relevant time as China and Germany celebrate 40 years of diplomatic relations amid Berlin's push to save the eurozone.

Mr Wen said "Right now, bilateral cooperation is in the broadest, most vibrant and most fruitful period ever. He said that the strategic nature of Sino-German relations can only be strengthened, not diminished as the two countries work together to fuel the global recovery.”

The Volkswagen deal which involves opening a plant in Northwest China Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region that will be capable of producing up to 50,000 vehicles a year starting 2013 responded to Mr Wen's cures for the European debt crisis during an earlier speech he gave at an industrial fair in Hannover on Sunday.

He said that development of the real economy, innovation and collaboration would drive the recovery.

He added that "Close cooperation and joint efforts by China and Germany, two of the world's most important manufacturing powers, to push for dialogue and collaboration among players in the global industry are set to play an ever more vital role for the industry's innovation and development."

Earlier that day, he reiterated China willingness to join hands with Germany and the rest of Europe to overcome the crisis in a meeting with former German chancellor Mr Gerhard Schroder. He also said Beijing aims to convey confidence and strength to the world through the Hannover exhibition.

Mr Schroder meanwhile, applauded Chinese measures in fighting the crisis, and said Germany and China share important consensuses and common benefits.

Mr Wen also met Helmut Schmidt, the first German chancellor to visit China since Beijing and Berlin established diplomatic relations.

Volkswagen steigert Umsatz im ersten Quartal um 26,3 Prozent

Der Volkswagen-Konzern (Volkswagen Vz Aktie) konnte seine Erfolgsserie auch im ersten Quartal 2012 fortsetzen: der Umsatz wurde um 26,3 Prozent auf 47,3 Milliarden Euro gesteigert (Vorjahr: 37,5 Milliarden Euro). Das operative Ergebnis wuchs um 10,2 Prozent auf 3,2 Milliarden Euro (Vorjahr: 2,9 Milliarden Euro).

"Wir haben ein erstes Quartal nach Maß hingelegt", sagte Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Vorstandsvorsitzender der Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, am Donnerstag in Wolfsburg bei der Vorlage der Bilanz für die ersten drei Monate des Jahres 2012. "Die Ergebnisse zeigen einmal mehr, dass wir auf dem richtigen Weg sind", so Winterkorn weiter.

Volkswagen puts hold investment in Maharashtra

German auto major Volkswagen AG said it has put on hold the proposed INR 2,000 crore investment plan in India as the VAT refund issue with the Maharashtra government remains unresolved.

Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India John Chacko told PTI that "The normal investments required for usual operations of the company is going on but the big plans for the future have been put on hold at the moment.”

He was responding to a query on whether the ongoing issue with the Maharashtra government over the change in policy regarding VAT refund has impacted the group's expansion plans, including the INR 2,000 crore investment announced in January.

Earlier, to woo investors, the state government used to refund VAT paid on all vehicles sold by companies, which have factories in the state.

It was, however, modified last year and the state government said it would refund VAT only on vehicles sold within the state.

Stating that the group wants the state government to keep its commitments, Mr Chacko said that "We are talking to the state government to sort out the issue. We want to work in a stable conducive environment and would like to get what was committed to us."

Asked what would be the group's next step if the state government sticks to its stand, he said that "We will cross the bridge when it comes."

Meer loon voor Duitse werknemers Volkswagen

WOLFSBURG (AFN) - De Duitse werknemers van autofabrikant Volkswagen krijgen per 1 juni een loonsverhoging van 4,3 procent. Dat hebben de vakbond IG Metall en Volkswagen afgesproken.

De loonsverhoging geldt voor circa 100.000 werknemers van Volkswagen in Duitsland. De grootste autofabrikant van Europa heeft zes Duitse fabrieken. IG Metall had om een loonsverhoging van 6,5 procent gevraagd. Vorig jaar kregen de Duitse werknemers van Volkswagen een salarisverhoging van in totaal 4,2 procent.

De Zwitserse mededingingswaakhond heeft BMW een boete gegeven van circa 130 miljoen euro.

De Duitse autobouwer zou pogingen hebben ondernomen om te voorkomen dat Zwitserse burgers auto's van het merk buiten Zwitserland kochten.

Door de dure Zwitserse frank kochten veel Zwitsers hun auto's in Duitsland, Frankrijk of Italië, dus in euro's. In 2010 begon de toezichthouder een onderzoek na geluiden dat BMW zijn dealers in Europa verbood om auto's te verkopen aan Zwitserse burgers.

VW Group China sales in May up by 24pct YoY

China Knowledge reported that Volkswagen AG announced that its auto sales in China surged 23.7% YoY to 221,100 vehicles in May.

From January to May this year, the German automaker saw its auto sales in China amounted to 1.08 million units reflecting a YoY increase of 17.5%. The sales of its imported vehicles into China reached 65,800 units in the five month period including 33,400 units of Volkswagen and 31,100 units of Audi.

FAW Volkswagen, the joint venture between China First Automobile Works and Volkswagen Group sold 354,900 units of Volkswagen vehicle and 129,500 units of Audi vehicle while Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co Ltd a 50:50 joint venture between Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp and Germany based Volkswagen AG saw its auto sales totalled 532,400 units in the first five month of this year.

Wat betekent dit voor de aandelen van porsche? Blijven die genoteerd of verdwijnen die?
Koopt VW een deel van die aandelen op? Wie weet hier meer van?

Porsche volledig in handen van Volkswagen
STUTTGART - Volkswagen neemt het sportwagenmerk Porsche geheel over. Dit maakte de autofabrikant uit Wolfsburg woensdagavond bekend.

Naar verwachting zal Porsche op 1 augustus geheel onder de vleugels van de VW-groep vallen.
Topman Matthias Müller van Porsche sprak vorig jaar september op de autoshow van Frankfurt al de verwachting uit dat Volkswagen waarschijnlijk gebruik zou maken van zijn zogeheten put-call optie om het sportwagenmerk voor 3,9 miljard euro in te lijven.
Met de overname ontloopt VW een belastingheffing van meer dan 1 miljard euro. VW zou ook aan de eisen van Porsche willen voldoen om zelfstandig te kunnen beslissen over investeringen en de modellen die de sportwagenfabrikant op de markt brengt.
Zelfstandig
Porsche blijft dan ook zelfstandig op alle gebieden, met een aparte ontwikkeling, productie en verkooporganisatie.
''De Porsche legende leeft voort'', zei voorzitter Uwe Hueck van de ondernemingsraad. Hij verwacht dat Porsche zich onder de paraplu van Volkswagen de komende jaren goed zal blijven ontwikkelen.

Ik weet er nu nog geen antwoord op, maar als ik het tegenkom zal ik het posten.

Overigens: Volkswagen ontploft op het nieuws. Het is niet ALLEMAAL ellende op de beurs.

I know, ik zat toevallig gisteren te kijken naar de koers van porsche, niet ingestapt.
Vandaag +0,8%. Helemaal niets dus. Ik zit wel op het vinkentouw wat BMW betreft.

Ik heb wat rondgesurft en krijg het volgende beeld: VW neemt het " Dach-gesellschaft" over oftewel de holding BOVEN Porsche. Dat betekent concreet dat de aandelen Porsche die deze Dach-gesellschaft heeft uitgegeven gewoon genoteerd kunnen blijven. Je leest ook nergens dat dit Dach-gesellschaft, dus die holding de aandelen Porsche gaat inkopen. Kortom: Voor die Porsche-aandelen verandert er verder niet zoveel behalve dat de holding boven hen een andere eigenaar heeft gekregen.



Kern des Deals ist, dass VW den grundsätzlich steuerpflichtigen Kauf der noch ausstehenden zweiten Hälfte der Porsche AG als eine - ausdrücklich legale - Umstrukturierung ausweist. Die ist steuerfrei. Das Delikate an der Sache: Normalerweise fließt bei einem Geschäft dieser Art kein Geld. Für gewöhnlich ist es ein Anteilstausch. Für die noch ausstehende Hälfte der Porsche AG hätten also eigentlich VW-Aktien zum Gegenwert fließen sollen. Nun aber wandert eben nur eine Aktie plus die Milliardensumme in den Süden. Diese Gestaltungsmöglichkeit ist das Extrem, aber erlaubt.

Volkswagen on track to finalize takeover of Porsche

AP reported that German carmaker Volkswagen is on track to finalize the full takeover of sports car manufacturer Porsche by the end of the month.

Volkswagen said in a statement on late July 4th 2012 that Porsche will become another fully integrated brand of the Volkswagen group as of August 1st 2012.

The Wolfsburg based group, Europe's biggest carmaker, includes brands like Audi, Volkswagen, Seat, Bugatti, Bentley and truck makers MAN and Scania. The deal will also restructure the companies' complicated ownership ties.

Volkswagen says the missing 50.1% in Porsche's capital will be bought from holding company Porsche SE for EUR 4.46 billion plus one Volkswagen share.

German carmaker Volkswagen AG sales in China increase 17pct

It is reported that German carmaker Volkswagen AG sold 17.5 percent more cars in China in the first six months of the year than in the same period of 2011. The company sold 1.3 million cars, growing faster than the fastest-growing car market in the world.

It sold 982,600 cars under its Volkswagen or VW brand up by 15.2%YoY, 193,900 of its Audi brand a 37.2% increase and 120,700 Skodas up by 7.6%YoY.

WOLFSBURG (AFN) - De Duitse autofabrikant Volkswagen draait op volle toeren, ondanks de economische onrust in Europa. De nettowinst sprong in de eerste helft van dit jaar met 36 procent omhoog tot meer dan 8,8 miljard euro. Dat maakte de grootste autoproducent van Europa donderdag bekend.

De omzet klom met 23 procent tot ruim 95 miljard euro. De wereldwijde verkoop van Volkswagen (met ook merken als Audi, Skoda en Seat) steeg in de eerste 6 maanden met 10 procent tot 4,6 miljoen auto's. In West-Europa nam de verkoop af, maar in Oost-Europa, Azië, Noord-Amerika en op de Duitse thuismarkt zat de verkoop in de lift.

Volkswagen bevestigde zijn prognoses voor heel 2012. Het concern uit Wolfsburg verwacht dat de operationele winst het niveau van 2011 zal overtreffen en dat de omzet dit jaar zal toenemen ten opzichte van vorig jaar.

Goldman Sachs belässt VW-Vorzüge auf 'Conviction Buy' - Ziel 261 Euro



Goldman Sachs hat die Einstufung für die Vorzugsaktien von Volkswagen (VW) nach Zahlen zum zweiten Quartal auf "Conviction Buy" mit einem Kurzsiel von 261,00 Euro belassen. Der operative Gewinn habe die durchschnittliche Marktschätzung übertroffen, schrieb Analyst Stefan Burgstaller in einer Studie vom Montag. Er habe die operativen Gewinnerwartungen etwas angehoben, da höhere Kostensenkungen und positive Wechselkurseffekte vorsichtigere Preis- sowie Absatzmixerwartungen mehr als kompensiert hätten.

De vooruitzichten voor de Duitse economie kunnen niet beroerder zijn. Door de euro crisis smelt de omzet van de industrie, nieuwe orders voor het laatst aanzienlijk slechter dan verwacht.
De ECB hebben met hun voorspelling voor de euro-zone verslechterd, de verwachting nu is een krimp van 0,3% in 2012? ( als het waar is?) Duitsland komt meer en meer in een neerwaartse spiraal van de euro crisis – en toch zijn er bedrijven zoals Porsche, E.ON en Munich die immuun lijken te zijn voor de economische neergang. Waarschijnlijk is de hoge flexibiliteit de succesformule hun business model snel aan te passen op de veranderingen van de markt. Meestal zijn de chief executives van succesvolle bedrijven lang in functie- en hebben een goed team van managers om hun heen, die de uitvoering en strategie snel kunnen uitvoeren.De verkoop is gelijkmatig verspreid over Europa, de VS en Azië. Het bedrijfsresultaat in de eerste helft van 2012: 1,26 miljard euro. In vergelijking met vorig jaar”een stijging van 20%.

Volkswagen to lighten updated Golf model by 220 pounds

It is reported that Volkswagen AG will shave as much as 100 kilograms from the weight of its updated Golf model by using stronger steel to minimize the metal content, delivering a 23% reduction in fuel consumption.

VW said that the new materials and production processes, part of a modular manufacturing system, will be extended to more than 40 small and mid sized models or about 3.5 million cars.

Europe's biggest carmaker expects the shared architecture to cut production costs by 20%, manufacturing time by 30% and one time expenses by 20%. The savings will help finance upgrades of in-car entertainment systems and the development of new generations of VW autos.

A revised version of VW's flagship Golf is scheduled to be unveiled on September 4th 2012 as the company seeks to gain market share and overtake Japan's Toyota Motor Corporation and Detroit based General Motors Co to become world No 1 in sales by 2018.

Mr Ulrich Hackenberg, the company's brand development chief, said that "The Golf has a preeminent role at Volkswagen because of its high production volumes, the number of employees behind it, and because the car is the face of VW."

Volkswagen's strategy favors the use of strengthened steel to reduce overall weight as a cheaper alternative to materials such as aluminum or carbon fiber, as used by Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) for its new electric vehicle range.

Reduced fuel consumption will also lower VW's carbon dioxide emissions. The new Golf will emit 13.9% less CO2 per car, equal to about 119,000 tonnes in European markets.

Volkswagen bouwt motorenfabriek in Rusland

MOSKOU (AFN) - De Duitse autofabrikant Volkswagen (VW) gaat een motorenfabriek bouwen in Rusland. Daarmee is een investering gemoeid van circa 250 miljoen euro, zo maakte de onderneming dinsdag bekend.

De nieuwe fabriek moet volgens VW uiteindelijk 150.000 motoren per jaar gaan afleveren. Rusland is een economie in opkomst en daarmee voor VW en andere Europese autobouwers een steeds belangrijkere afzetmarkt.
